THE
RAFALE FIGHTER JET
With a finger countable originally made
in Indian combat vehicles, Indian air force is dependent the foreign countries
for its defense needs. During the COG report over the IAF suggested an immediate
requirement of 42 squadrons for 2000 and 2012. Proposals were mad to government
which had been sought out in 2011. The IAF declared RAFAL made by French gov.,
had met its criteria compared to the competitors F18/F16 (U.S made), Euro
Fighter (made by UK / ITLY/ GERMAN/ SPAINISH), MIG – 35 (Russian made) and
GRIPEN (SWEDESH made). There are many reasons listed why RAFALE is the best
when compared with another existing.
The prominence of the RAFALE combat
fighter jet was much discussed at various French interventions in to various
international activities like MALI, AFGHAN, Fighting the ISIS etc., and eared a
nickname for itself hunter (for the initial singer seater version RAFAL “C”).
Its design and build quality was kept on upgradation from its first flight in
1990. It had replaced utility of 8 different fighter planes and it had proven
better than any other of its competitors. It had 3 different varieties which
were created for a specific combat zones. Single seater version, 2 seater
version and naval utility Rafale-version.
The
advantages of RAFALE Fighter jet are:
1.Ability to carry a total of 16tonns of payload for war and can be fit with a nuclear war head.
12.Requires a short run strip of less than 450mts. Advantageous for operating at hilly terrain regions.
1.
Fighter jet with a very high of agility, combined a delta
wing with active
close-coupled canard to maximize maneuverability. Operated even at higher
altitudes with inbuilt oxygen generators.
2.
The aircraft is capable of withstanding from −3.6g to 9g.
3.
The Rafale is an aerodynamically unstable aircraft and
uses digital
fly-by-wire flight controls to artificially enforce and maintain
stability.
4.
The wide speed control range. On a maximum speed, the jet can
reach a speed twice that of sound. The aircraft's canards also act to reduce
the minimum landing speed to 115 knots (213 km/h;
132 mph); while in flight, airspeeds as low as 15 knots (28 km/h;
17 mph).
6.
In order to reduce the RCS, changes from the initial
technology demonstrator include a reduction in the size of the tail-fin,
fuselage reshaping, repositioning of the engine air inlets underneath the
aircraft's wing, and the extensive use of composite
materials and serrated patterns for the
construction of the trailing edges of the wings and canards.
7.
70% of the Rafale surface area is made of composite material and
designed to absorb the radar signature waves. Many such design features reduce
the Rafale visibility.
8.
The Rafale features an integrated defensive-aids
system named SPECTRA, which protects the
aircraft against airborne and ground threats.
9.
Various methods of detection, jamming, and decoying have been
incorporated, and the system has been designed to be highly re-programmable for
addressing new threats and incorporating additional sub-systems in the future.
10.Built in with a radar system that has an ability to detect
the enemy planes over a distance of 200Km.
